I upgraded my ASIAir Pro firmware to v2.0 last night before my session. That process went off without a hitch. The new software looks great! A big improvement.

I noticed that there was an option for DSO Stacking directly in the ASIAir so I thought I would give it a try. I don’t remember seeing this before, but it is entirely possible that I just missed it.

Process

I first had to create all the master calibration frames, which I could also do right in ASIAir. It was a pretty quick and easy process. I just selected which images I wanted to stack and within a minute or so there was a master calibration frame. I did that for darks, flats, and bias frames.

If I had multiple master frames, I could just pick which one I wanted to use.

Then I basically repeated the process for the lights, but selected the master calibration frames in the process. The whole thing was fast and easy.

Results

This was a really quick and easy way to stack the images. I’ll likely use this method as my starting point for most of my imaging going forward.

Just to give an idea of the output with minimal post-processing, here is what I got from the ASIAir.

Just for reference, here is the image using all the same data, but stacked using my normal process in Siril
